About me
Thank you for your interest in classroom management. I am passionate about the role that positive behavior has in a students school success. I also believe that behavior is manageable and any teacher can learn ways to create well managed classrooms where students can learn and thrive. This session will hopefully remind you of some best practices you have forgotten, teach you new strategies and affirm what you are doing well. I have been a teacher for over 30 years and have predominantly worked with students who have social/emotional/behavioral needs. I completed my undergraduate degree in Special Education at Indiana University. I have a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Butler University (Group 22) and I have a Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University. I have jokingly said that I plan to get a degree from as many Indiana colleges as possible. I live in Zionsville, Indiana with my husband Jim and Schnoodle Bella. I have 5 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Leo is 7 years old and loves sports and games and Ellie is 3 years old and loves anything active and adventurous that includes animals and nature. Two of my children live in Illinois (Geneva and Chicago). My daughter Brittnee is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at a large high school in Glenbard, Illinois and my son Brice a Technical Product Manager for National Geographic Learning (English Language Teaching). Brianna is in Virginia Beach, Virginia and is an Investigative Journalist with WTKR News 3. My son Braedan is a high school counselor in Golden, Colorado and lives in Denver. Lastly, my daughter Brenn is a Functional Academic Teacher in Warren Township in Indianapolis and is currently working on her Master's Degree in Social Work. I enjoy traveling, gardening, cooking, interior design and creativity. One thing most people don't know about me is that I am a certified scuba diver.
