Effective Parent Communication: Overcoming Anxiety Surrounding Phone Calls Home

In this session we will discuss best practices for communication with home. We will consider research, personal experiences, and discuss potential improvements to presented scenarios. At the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to roleplay parent calls with one another to practice responding to various parent reactions. Intended audience: Intended audience: 7-12 Grade.

Creating Student Crisis Plans

Participants will:

-Learn the major components, considerations, and process of developing a crisis plan for students, aiming to prevent further movement up the escalation continuum.
-Develop understanding of when a crisis plan should be considered/developed for a student
-Learn the difference between crisis planning, Behavior Interventions Plans, and the intersection with ProACT Assault Crisis Training
-Have the opportunity to begin the crisis planning process for a student
Although appropriate for all teachers, this session is geared towards Teachers of Record/Special Education Teachers serving students with behavioral needs.
